Cities have a civic responsibility to properly manage public goods, resources and facilities in a way that positively impacts the community and the environment. In this way, Naperville continues to be an environmental leader among its peers making measurable, cost-effective investments in our infrastructure to provide more sustainable services.
In 2010, the Naperville City Council approved an Environmental Sustainability Plan, which established a long-term vision for environmental sustainability in Naperville and serves as a guide for the city’s actions related to environmental leadership and initiatives. The framework of the plan is organized into the categories of Resources and Energy, Transportation and Mobility, Waste Management and Recycling, and Development and Infrastructure. The efforts of the City in these areas are documented here.
